School Background

Machabeng College, International School of Lesotho, established in 1977, is committed to internationalism and interculturalism, reflected in its curriculum, particularly the IB Diploma Programme, and its co-curricular opportunities. The school uniquely offers the IB Diploma program in Lesotho as well as the IGCSE curriculum, supporting students in pursuing university education overseas for the country’s benefit. The Government of Lesotho, through the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS), sponsors students for the IBDP and has supported the school financially for many years. As a fully IBO accredited institution, Machabeng College serves nearly 500 day and boarding

students from over 35 nationalities, aged 11 to 19+ years, supported by a dedicated team staff members. Situated on a prime hill-top location adjacent to the Royal Palace, the school spans four hectares, providing a serene learning environment. Governed by a Board of Governors, the Headmaster provides educational and organizational leadership within policy frameworks. For almost 50 years, Machabeng College has modeled for students what it means to live and relate as citizens of southern Africa and the world, maintaining the highest standards of international education and compliance with national regulations.
