The academic year has recently begun at Machabeng College, and Machabeng STEM club has hit the ground running at an incredible pace to prepare for the upcoming Robotics competitions. To establish a strong base and maintain continuous progress, the club initially focused on recruiting new members from the lower school to sustain this momentum for a minimum of three years, ensuring their ability to compete and win in any competition they take part in.

It brings us great joy to announce that our students recently had the opportunity to participate in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists in the Free State region, South Africa, where they presented their outstanding research projects. Mateboho Ratalane’s project stood out among the impressive projects that were presented, ultimately earning a well-deserved spot in the top 10 regional projects and being awarded a highly esteemed bronze medal. Her teammates Mapai Namanyane and Thuto Mphoso had appeared in the top positions as well but were out-competed by students from other institutions.

Mateboho is very passionate about Robotics. From 23rd to the 29th of August 2024, she had the opportunity to represent Lesotho in the Pan-African Robotics Competition, which took place in Senegal.  It was in this instance that her skill and innovation truly stood out once more. At this moment, she has fulfilled all the criteria and obtained the necessary qualification to proudly serve as the representative of Lesotho in the upcoming international robotics competition which is set to take place in Greece, which has been scheduled for the month of December in the year 2024. As a team, we are filled with an overwhelming sense of pride when we witness the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts displayed by all of our students, and it is on this note that we gather together to commemorate this truly remarkable achievement. Sending our best wishes to her as she prepares to showcase her skills and compete on the global platform. Mr Serame, Mr Lesenyeho, Ms Khale, and Mr Ntlamelle are the supervisors of the team, and they have joined forces to assist learners in showcasing their talents.
